What does this mean to everyone?
Well, if a passenger appears to be a minor and has no adult accompanying them - their ride can be cancelled.A lot of passengers and drivers may not be aware of this latest change but WhyDriveCA is hoping to help you understand and be kept up to date with changes as they happen.
I'm sure there are people who won't like this change but looking at the bigger picture of it - it's in place to help protect our children. As a driver and a parent, I am all for the change. Even to the extent that I could lose out on the fare. I have transported teens (and one who was still in elementary school) who had no adult companion present. I was nervous about these riders and with the youngest one, I was beyond concerned for their safety and lack of parental/guardian presence.
I've already experienced not so happy teens that I've refused rides to as well as teens and adults alike who appreciated the "good looking out" for them. I truly think this is a win/win - even if it makes life a little inconvenient.
